Our Mission

We engage with, inspire, educate, and support Yamhill County individuals and communities as they cultivate organic edible gardens.

Our Goals

  • Foster Food Access and Equity
  • Support Sustainability
  • Combat Climate Change
  • Beautify our Communities
  • Promote Healthy Living

Community Gardens

We build organic, edible community gardens around Yamhill County while simultaneously providing education on their long term care.

Our gardens target populations with low incomes and those who are houseless, thereby fostering food access and equity. These populations often face food insecurity and rely on lower-cost and minimally-nutritious foods. By offering access to fresh, unprocessed, and nutritionally-rich fruits and vegetables, we help alleviate food insecurity, and also help promote healthy living.

These gardens combat climate change by reducing the environmental costs associated with processing and transporting food. Our garden designs also support sustainability by incorporating hardy, low-maintenance, perennial plants, and by prioritizing sustainable best practices.

Alpine Avenue

Our hardworking team of volunteers maintain almost thirty community garden boxes along Alpine Avenue in McMinnville, OR. These gardens provide fresh, organic produce to the community

and help to beautify the area.

We are always seeking volunteers to help tend these gardens. Whether you're an avid gardener, or have always wanted to learn about horticulture, contact us and let us know how you'd like to get involved!

VOLUNTEER

Help Us Grow!

As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of individuals and organizations in our community to sustain our operations and expand our impact.

There are several ways you can support us.

Annual Events

Spring Edible Garden Festival

A vibrant event in late spring, at which we distribute 3,000+ free seedlings to community members. At retail, these plants would cost over $10k. Giving these seedlings away encourages individuals to start their own gardens and improves access to fresh food.

Community Harvest Exchange

On the first Saturday of October, we invite the whole community to bring their overabundant harvest and share with others. This event reduces food waste and strengthens community bonds while promoting the value of sharing.

Support Us

Our events serve a vital purpose in our community and they are always free

and open to everyone.

Help us continue to improve our annual events by getting involved, making a one-time donation, or signing up for our monthly giving program.

Growing Alliances

Community Groups

We develop partnerships with local community groups, especially those who serve low-income and houseless populations. Through these partnerships, we can install edible gardens and provide education on planting and tending them. This not only addresses food insecurity but also empowers community members with valuable skills and knowledge.

Public Spaces

We partner with municipal organizations to integrate edible plants and gardens in public spaces. By incorporating these elements into parks, plazas, and other communal areas around Yamhill County, we can create vibrant and sustainable environments that benefit both residents and visitors.

Schools

We develop partnerships with education systems to support the installation of school gardens. These gardens serve as outdoor classrooms, providing students with hands-on learning experiences and promoting a deeper understanding of the environment, food systems and how to ensure a sustainable future.
